*本計畫藏品包含日治時期日本官僚、日本藝術家之書畫及錦繪，以及日治時期桃竹苗地區台人或旅台漢人的書畫作品。這些作品有助於解析殖民政府的文化治理政策和在日治初期的官紳互動情況，並從書畫方面彌補過去對傳統漢詩人在藝術研究層面的不足，同時也對桃竹苗地區流動文人的研究有所助益。除此之外，因多數藏品於形制上仍完整地保存日治時期的裝裱樣式與珍貴材質，亦為近代裝裱提供極其珍貴的研究史料。
*Collections in this project include paintings and calligraphy completed by Japanese officials and artists during the early Japanese Colonial Period, as well as those created by Taiwanese in the Taoyuan-Hsinchi-Miaoli area or Chinese visiting Taiwan during that era. These works help us understand the Japanese government’s cultural policy and the interactions between Japanese officials and Taiwanese gentry at the turn of the 20th century. The project also attempts to remedy the lack of research on the works of Taoyuan-Hsinchi-Miaoli area Han ethnicity poets.  As many of the works in the collection represent a complete preservation of mounting styles and materials used for art pieces during the Japanese Colonial Period, they serve as invaluable materials for research on modern mounting techniques.
